Publications The Sahara geoglyphs 16.12.2018. Part 9. Symbol Orientations. Pentagram. The Sahara geoglyphsPart 9. Symbol Orientations. PentagramIn this part, we consider the orientation of the Sahara geoglyphs, corresponding to the angles of pentagram, oriented to the cardinal points. As in the previous case, the North is always at the top, and the non-distorted pentagram is superimposed on a space image. Let's start again with SK symbols, that have much more orientations associated with pentagram than with other figures.
The SK 5 symbol is oriented by the angle of pentagram 108 ° and is clearly made in its proportions
At this scale, the oval of the symbol is inscribed in the pentagon, and the center of the pentagram coincides with the center of the geoglyph. In the next image, SK 2023 symbol is also oriented according to the angle of pentagram 108°. This angle obviously prevails among the SK symbols, the orientation of which corresponds to a pentagon. Orientation 108°. Symbol SK 758. Orientation 108°. Next, we consider several symbols whose orientation is close to the angle of pentagram 126. This orientation is also quite common.
Symbol SK 14. Orientation 126°.
Next, we turn to modified SK symbols, having the designation SKM. There are not many of such symbols found, about a dozen, but among them there are several that are precisely oriented according to the angles of pentagram.
The image below shows a combination of two symbols - SK 20 and SK 21. Both geoglyphs are oriented along the pentagram angle of 108 °. The direction from the center of SK 20 symbol to the center of SK 21 symbol also corresponds to the angle of pentagram of 72 °. Such a combination cannot be accidental, and we will see this while considering the directions between symbols.
We turn to S type symbols, many of which have direct beams. There are cases, far from isolated, when the orientation of the beams corresponds to the angles of pentagram oriented to the cardinal points.
Two symbols are shown below, one of which - S 12770 - we have already considered in the previous part, and we will return to the second one later. As we remember, the orientation of the southeast beam of symbol S 12770 corresponds to the angle of hexagram 150°. In the image below, the center of the pentagram coincides with the center of the symbol. It can a be seen, though not very well, that the northeast beam of symbol S 12770 is oriented along the angle of the pentagram - 36°. The following image shows the symbol of the "sputnik" subtype - S 941, the southeastern beam of which is oriented along the pentagram angle of 144°. The orientation of the northeastern beam is close to 45°. I.e., that is the diagonal of a square, and we will return to it later.
The orientation of the northeastern beam of symbol S 223 corresponds to the pentagram angle of 72°.
The orientation of the northwestern beam of symbol S 1597 corresponds to the pentagram angle of 324°.
The northeastern beam of symbol S 1622 is oriented along the pentagram angle of 18°.
The southeastern beam of symbol S 8796 is oriented along the pentagram angle of 126°. The following image shows several S-type symbols, among which there are two spindle symbols and one - S1313 - of the UFO subtype, located at the very bottom of the picture. One of the SS symbols, the SS 1315 symbol, located in the upper left corner, is oriented according to the pentagram angle of 54°. The northwestern edge of the pentagon is aligned with the length of SS1315 symbol, and so the scale is set. In this position, the north-south axis and the circle of the pentagram pass through symbol S 1313, which is located in the south of the whole group, at the bottom of the picture. In the next part, we are to consider the orientations of geoglyphs corresponding to the angles of an octagon — an 8-gon and a nonagon — a 9-gon. |
